December 26. 2009
SOUTHBURY -- Seven artists from Watermark Retirement Communities across the country, including one from The Watermark at East Hill in Southbury, are featured in the 2010 edition of Watermark Expressions, a calendar that celebrates active aging and the arts. Artists from The Watermark at East Hill competed against hundreds of residents from 11 Watermark communities for a place in this year's calendar. The Southbury resident whose work was chosen is Jack Levine, whose wood sculpture, "Woodworkers and Tools," is featured for the month of June.

"Our community has many gifted artists and musicians residing here, and we're happy that they have the opportunity to showcase their talents," said Michelle Bettigole, executive director of The Watermark at East Hill. Levine is a retired machinist and mechanical engineer who moved from Long Island to Southbury in 1984, when he began painting and sculpting as a second career.
