Gaffney Bennett Public Relations Wins
2009 Communicator Award

New Britain, CT (June 2009) – Gaffney Bennett Public Relations, a full-service public relations firm based in New Britain, Connecticut was recently honored by the Communicator Awards, an international awards competition that recognizes outstanding work in the communication field.  Over 7,000 entries were submitted for consideration to the 2009 Communicator Awards, making it the largest and most prestigious award of its kind.

GBPR won an “Award of Distinction” for its communications plan for Rabina Properties, a privately-held owner, developer and manager of more than 12 million square feet of retail, residential, office and technology real estate, and an active purchaser of distressed debt.  Awards of Distinction are presented to projects that exceed industry standards in design or communication skills.

“At GBPR, we pride ourselves on developing customized communications strategies that allow our clients to tell their story to the right audiences, at the right time” said Hank Spring a principal with the firm.  “We’re very pleased that our work on behalf of Rabina has been recognized by the industry.”

GBPR designed a comprehensive media relations campaign to foster wide-spread public support for Rabina’s 170 acre, smart design, mixed use development project in North Haven, CT. GBPR’s communication plan was designed to build awareness of and appreciation for the project’s diverse attributes among key target audiences.  GBPR’s plan secured early project support and increased public awareness for the project’s local and regional benefits through a variety of communications channels including local briefings, media coverage and local advertising.  The plan also leveraged third-party support for the project from public officials, local residents, chambers of commerce, community groups, home builders, design experts, environmental advocates and regional economic development authorities.  GBPR’s strategic communications plan helped to create a scenario in which state and local officials could make decisions regarding the project based on its merits and without unwarranted political or editorial interference.
